Do you feel comfortable when meeting people for the first time and telling them what you do?

Are you comfortable with your 'elevator speech' so that it rolls off your tongue and naturally piques people?s interest and invites questions?

Your elevator speech is designed to invite questions by raising people?s interest level. If you don?t have an elevator speech it is a good idea to think one up. Raising the level of interest from people in your service or product is the beginning of a networking relationship.

Net working though is also about being a good listener and interested in other people's products or services. If you don?t listen carefully, respectfully and with a measure of interest then you probably won?t hear the opportunities that could be opening up for you.

Net working is a two-way street. The give and take that is necessary for a good business relationship. If you think of net working as a Spider?s web with all the seemingly ?sticky stuff? - like a good elevator speech - that floats around until it catches and latches onto a firm foundation.

Then the prospective business partners can then, like the spider, strengthen the connection. Your web can then do its job of catching prey. Over time, the strength in that seemingly flimsy ?sticky stuff? is enormous.

Did you know that if you compared a ton of Steel to a ton of spider web (if someone was daft enough to harvest it!) that the spider web is capable of carrying a heavier load?

The same applies to creating and strengthening good business relationships. It is these networks that make or break your business. It becomes your own personal web to catch your chosen ?prey?.

So the long and the short of it all is to be comfortable with yourself while being an interested listener and you will build for yourself a net work based on a firm foundation.

And that?s good business for everyone.
